OUR PROGRAMS
OUR PROGRAMS
TransAction
SC Equality’s Transgender Inclusion Initiative, known as TransAction South Carolina, continues to grow grassroots engagement and influence state public policy. This initiative has been instrumental in identifying the need for increased transgender education in many of our society’s fundamental institutions.
GSA Network
SC Equality is committed to ensuring a future where every student who walks the halls of our schools and who sits at the desks in our classrooms is safe and protected. In 2011, we created the SC GSA Network (South Carolina Gay-Straight Alliance Network). The SC GSA Network is the only National GSA Network member in the Palmetto State.
Faith in Equality
Faith in Equality was created as a provider of information and resource materials to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth and their families who are seeking to overcome the stigma and misunderstanding that can negatively impact the emotional, psychological as well as spiritual well-being of both youth and those around them.
Know Your
Rights
SC Equality often receives questions from LGBT South Carolinians who ask – What can I do to protect myself and my family? We know that as both policies and attitudes continue to evolve around our state and country, it is important that you and your family know what resources are available to you in our state. That is why we have developed the Know Your Rights campaign.
Test Drive
Equality
In 2012, South Carolina became the second state with a pro-equality license plate. Maryland was the first in 2008. The license plate was created as a way of allowing residents of South Carolina to publicly display their support of community, culture and policy that encourages and advocates for equal treatment for all South Carolinians, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
