SC Equality is the largest statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) rights advocacy organization in South Carolina.
In recent years, SC Equality has defeated every anti-LGBT bill filed at the State House, including the Transgender Bathroom Bill (modeled after North Carolina’s HB2).

SC Equality’s Mission Statement
Our Vision: A South Carolina where everyone is equal.
Our Mission: To secure equal civil and human rights for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender South Carolinians and their families.
SC Equality’s Background
Since its founding in 2002, SC Equality has consistently worked to advance civil and human rights for LGBT South Carolinians and their families.
To fulfill this mission, SC Equality refers to three partner organizations:
- SC Equality, Inc. a 501(c)3 education and outreach organization.
- SC Equality Coalition, Inc., a 501(c)4 political advocacy organization.
- SC Equality PAC, a political action committee.
SC Equality has defeated or every anti-LGBTQ bill filed at the State House. Through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building, we are changing South Carolina so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
